Annual Leadership Review

Intentional leadership requires intentional reflection. Each of us must choose to pause and consider where we have been before we charge into the future.

Since we all seem to be a little more contemplative this time of year, why not set aside a few hours between now and New Year’s to reflect on your leadership? And when you do, be sure and capture your responses in a meaningful way for later review.

10 questions to ask when reflecting on the past year:
  1. Did I meet, exceed, or fall short of my goals?
  2. What were the mountain top experiences?
  3. What were the valley experiences?
  4. What surprised me in the past year?
  5. Were there any decisions I made that I now regret?
  6. How would my team describe my leadership?
  7. Where did I see God’s hand and care in a unique way?
  8. Were there any recurring themes or sacred echoes?
  9. What is the one word I would use to describe the past year?
  10. Why? (This is the follow-up question for each of your answers.)

For more reflective questions, read my post on looking forward to the year to come.

Any other questions you would suggest adding to this list?
